¡Hola! Actualizo el blog para dejarles dos links. En el primero, Illustrophile ha mostrado mi blog en el día de ayer, cosa que agradezco muchísimo a Charlene Chua, y en el segundo, se pueden ver unas imágenes de la pequeña exposición colectiva en la que formo parte en la biblioteca de la Facultad de Bellas Artes. Es posible que Localia venga la semana que viene a visitarnos y ver el espacio que comparto junto con Erick Miraval, Paula Heredero, Lidón Ramos y Quil Páez. Mil gracias de nuevo a Luis Mayo por su entusiasmo y dedicación, y a todos mis compañeros, con quienes ha sido un gustazo montar la expo. Por último, me gustaría agregar que estoy algo ocupado últimamente, pero que espero poder seguir actualizando con más frecuencia el blog dentro de unas semanas.

Hi there! I just wanted to post the following links. The first one is from Illustrophile, where I have been featured yersterday. I would like to give my sincerest of thanks to Charlene Chua for this opportunity of showcasing my blog. The second link takes us to the my faculty's of art library, where I am exhibiting some pieces of watercolour illustrations along with other friends: Erick Miraval, Paula Heredero, Lidón Ramos and Quil Páez. It was really great to share this little space with them, great fun indeed. I would also like to thank Luis Mayo for organizing this event, and for his support. With a bit of luck, Localia will be visiting us next week for a little interview for TV.
Finally, I would like to say that I've been fairly busy lately, but I think I'll be able to update the blog more often in a couple of weeks.

¡Dedicos y Churretes, ay los dedicos!

Qué se le va a hacer, estoy en la etapa de hacer horteradas inintencionadamente (véase post anterior)...por lo tanto, he decidido colgar unas imágenes un tanto caóticas de mi cuaderno, para no dejar muy abandonado el blog. Espero que al terminar el presente curso de la facultad, que será ya muy pronto, pueda volver a disfrutar de las acuarelas y el dibujo, y mimar más las imágenes. Al final, y por mucho que se intente, cuando algo se hace con prisa o nervios, se nota (y sobre todo cuando se tiene poca experiencia en el campo).

It seems to me I can´t avoid making some tasteless drawings and illustrations lately (see previous post). For this reason, I wanted to post the following images from my sketchbook, which are a bit chaotic but better than the stuff made at uni nevertheless. Sometimes, and no matter how much one tries, and when deadlines are really tight, the final results are not as good as one would like but, deadlines are deadlines!

Finalmente la exposición colectiva en la biblioteca de BB.AA. de la UCM tendrá otra temática y, por tanto, material nuevo a exponer. Por mi parte, y debido a mi insistencia en dibujar árboles en mis cuardernos, estoy desarrollanado una serie de seis acuarelas en las que busco tanto la experimentación con la técnica, como el hartazgo de bosques y árboles. El color lo he dejado en un segundo plano para centrarme exclusivamente en el claroscuro de cada composición, y en el uso de diferentes herramientas para conseguir varios efectos.
Una vez superada esta fase, y contento de haber dibujado tanto árbol y rostro, me he propuesto enfrentar mis puntos más flacos: la integración de figura-fondo, y las manos. En cuanto tenga más dibujos y acuarelas, las iré subiendo. ¡Un saludo!

Con motivo de la próxima exposición de libretas, libros y diarios de artista en la Facultad de Bellas Artes de la UCM en el mes de Junio, adelanto fragmentos de un nuevo cuaderno, en el que he querido mantener tanto las técnicas empleadas como las temáticas elegidas, buscando una coherencia visual con respecto a los anteriores cuadernos.

The Bu-uhh

The Bu-uhh

A pariah par excellence, the Bu-uhh is a familiar outcast. Excluded from its forever unstable and ineffable families, this rare specimen grows darker in time. It is yet to be determined if this is due to a defensive camouflage or just ineffable stupidity.
In addition, the Bu-uhh is known to dream with female Bu-uhh’s corpses, beetle juice, and, occasionally, with what Dr. D. Morris would call “naked apes armed with two sharp canines, chronic skin cancer, and a filthy temper”, which they exorcise through ineffable charcoal doodles on the ineffable cave walls where they live in.

The Wow

The Wow

The Wow is an inventive and witty creature.
As soon as the Wow starts working on a new invention, the animal kingdom ceases all activity, marvelled by the Wow’s genius. The circle of life is interrupted by mounting excitement.
The inventions of the Wow are a total waste of time.
Luckily, and for the good of the animal kingdom, only one specimen survives nowadays.

Sketchbook II

Estas imágenes pertenecen a un nuevo sketchbook en el que he comenzado a trabajar y experimentar. Se trata de otro proyecto trimestral universitario, que tiene como tema principal "el objeto". En éste, el cuaderno de artista, estoy experimentando con un poco de todo: bolígrafo negro y azúl, bolígrafo fino celeste, edding negro con realces de edding blanco de punta media, pilot...
Lástima que en algunos de los escaneos algunas valoraciones tonales en los trazos hayan perdido intensidad, pero mejor ésto que nada.
¿Alguna sugerencia o recomendación, crítica constructiva o desquiciada?

The following images belong to a new sketchbook I am experimenting on for a new university project, with the object as theme. In this new sketchbook I am working with black and blue Bic, black and white eddings, Pilots and light blue Bics. Because of the scanning, some of the images lost some of its shades,but these are better than none. Please, feel free to criticize or suggest sincerely. Cheers!

¡Hola! Quería dejarles estas imágenes de mi cuaderno de apuntes del Círculo de Bellas Artes y otros dibujos varios de hace un par de meses, para no tener el blog muy abandonado. Lo cierto es que hay muchas entregas en la facultad, y casi no hay tiempo para dedicárselo a proyectos más personales. En cuanto pueda, actualizaré con otros dibujos algo más elaborados. ¡Un saludo!

Hi! I wanted to post these octubre drawings and sketches from my sketchbook, not to abandon this blog for too long. The truth is that there is hardly any time left to develop other personal projects with all the other university work submissions, but I promise to post some more elaborate drawings as soon as I can.

The Onegulp

The Onegulp

The Onegulp is known for its affectionate and humble nature. They are notorious for letting themselves be eaten up by hungry predators.
There was a time in which predators took advantage of this situation, but as the chasing and rough playing were gone, they soon found it very boring and lost all interest in the Onegulps.
Nowadays, the Onegulp no longer has natural enemies, and its population has grown by 227% in thirteen months and seven minutes.

The Yonk

The Yonk

The Yonk has its little whims, just like everyone else. Of all of them, devouring a common plant scientifically named “Sapiensallaround” is its favourite. When eaten, this plant has an immediate effect on the Yonk. An unknown world is displayed before its eyes, where some odd beasts (“naked apes”, according to Dr. D. Morris) dressed up in suits, ties and newspapers, all squashed up in the Subway, in a Monday’s small hours, can be glimpsed.
Such vision fills the Yonk with depression.
Once the effects of the “Sapiensallaround” are gone, the Yonk has the feeling that the world, his world, is a better place to live in.

The ?

Another sneak preview at my university project! Though I tried to make the watercolour painting look as spontaneous as the sketch, I was not able to achieve it. The scanned image lost some shades, but it still looks quite similar to the original. I hope you like it!

The ?

Observant and thoughtful by nature, the ? is a creature obsessed with existentialist arguments, which keeps it awake night after night , a fact that reduces its life span by two hundred and thirty-six days.
Questionings such as “why am I who I am buy don’t cease being when being? Who? What happens if I now stand here, and then there? What’s hidden below that rock? Where has the Aa-uukaa-u-u got those ears from?” are a fine example of its reflective practise.
The ? has a prodigious mind indeed.
